Campaign Finance: How to Fix It

campaign reform      The most important action to take to solve a problem is to address the core issue. Too often the peripherals are focused upon and when taken care of, the party hats and streamers come out, everyone pats each other on the back and…

       The core problem remains.

And that my friends is what we’re looking at when it comes to campaign finance reform. We look at the money as the problem but because money is absolute necessary to getting elected, no effort will be made to curb “Big Money’s” influence.

And their influence is presently what’s wrong with government. Here’s how it works. Congressman Bob need to be elected. He has a fund raiser. Big Money writes him a check, but makes it clear that in return they want Bob to vote for legislation that favors them.

Because Bob is inherently honest and forthright he tells them he can’t do that as it is not in the best interest of his constituents. Big Moneys says that’s fine, they will just give that contribution to Bob’s opponent.

So now Bob is stuck between a rock and a hard place. Either he accepts the ‘bribe’ because face it, folks that exactly what it is or his opponent gets the money, uses it to win the election and the Big Money get the legislation they want passed anyway.

And that is EXACTLY what is going on now and why the media is working so hard to get us to point fingers at each other instead of at “Big Money”, the people who are directly responsible for this mess.

AND THAT IS ALSO THE REASON NO REAL ATTEMPT HAS BEEN MADE TO PROSCUTE THOSE WALL STREET CROOKS. BECAUSE IF ANY CONGRESSMAN CALLS FOR A REAL INVESTIGATION AND JAIL TIME FOR THOSE CONVICTED, WHOEVER RUNS AGAINST HIM IN THE NEXT ELECTION WILL HAVE VIRTUALLY UNLIMITED FUNDS FOR HIS CAMPAIGN.

So the CORE of this problem is not the amount of money contributed to a campaign, it is the DIRECT INFLUENCE, that money has because of who it came from.

The Supreme Court has decided that anyone can contribute as much or as little money as he or she wants. And because Big Money has their name on that contribution, the congressperson either goes along or will likely lose his/her job.

So according to the Supreme Court we can’t take away the money BUT We CAN TAKE AWAY THE INFLUENCE.

Here’s how.

The feds set up an online National Campaign Contribution Agency. When a person or company wishes to contribute money to a political campaign, they select that person on the site and contributes as much as they want. Done the same way as a credit card payment or wire transfer. As a receipt they will receive a code number that they can use when filing their taxes and the amount contributed.

BUT IT DOES NOT SAY TO WHO THE MONEY WAS CONTRIBUTED TO!

Because the ‘who’ doesn’t matter. Regardless who they contribute to, the tax benefits would be the same.

Now here is why this way works. Say Mr. Moneybags contributes $100,000 to congressman’s Bob’s account. The money does not get transferred all at once. It gets split up into portions similar to the other contributions Bob is receiving for his campaign.  For example: Bob’s campaign headquarters would receive that $100,000 broken into portions like $7500 at ten am. $16,000 at 11:06 am. $50.00 at 12:01, 12:06, 12:08, $9285 at 12:15, $75 at 12:16 $5000 at 1:00pm

And so on, until the entire $100,000 is transferred over. This way Bob has no idea if Mr. Moneybags actually sent it or if he did, there is no evidence that it was sent to him and not some other candidate.

Any contribution made to a candidate outside of the National Campaign Agency would be considered a bribe and both the contributor AND the candidate would be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

And because Mr. Moneybags could play both side against each other without actually contributing any money, most candidates on both sides would be hesitant about agreeing to anything, since it would be impossible to provide any actual prove that they had contributed to that particular campaign.

Bottom line: Congress cannot function in its’ present condition. As voters our only options are to replace all of them during the next election or create the aforementioned National Campaign Agency to put an end to Direct Influence through personal contributions.

If you think this is a good idea. Forward this to a friend.
